one subject again would spend a second search on the same result. What is
left to give up is QUALIFIERS.

Strip the query back to the bare everyday noun for that subject, kept
together with the period. Drop the region name, the administrative area,
the setting, the material, the colour, the condition and every adjective —
keep only the word local people would say if they were pointing at one, and
the period. Qualifiers narrow a web index far harder than they narrow
meaning: ordinary examples of the subject exist in quantity, but an
ordinary example that also satisfies four qualifiers may have no photograph
on the web at all.

★★ THE PERIOD IS NOT ONE OF THE QUALIFIERS YOU TRADE AWAY. It is the
coordinate that decides whether what comes back is the right thing at all.
Everything else can go; the period stays, written the way the
region-and-period block writes it, and never replaced by an expression
reaching over a longer span of time.

The region still governs what you ACCEPT from the results. It just stops
being a word in the query.
