one subject again would spend a second search on the same result. What is
left to give up is QUALIFIERS.

Strip the query back to the bare everyday noun for that subject. Drop the
region name, the era, the administrative area, the setting, the material,
the colour, the condition and every adjective — keep only the word local
people would say if they were pointing at one. Qualifiers narrow a web
index far harder than they narrow meaning: ordinary examples of the
subject exist in quantity, but an ordinary example that also satisfies
four qualifiers may have no photograph on the web at all.

The region and era still govern what you ACCEPT from the results. They
just stop being words in the query.


★★ KEEP THE PERIOD COORDINATE. Narrowing removes the other things, never the
period the region-and-era block gave you. Do not replace it with a word that
covers a wider stretch of time.
