painted or traced (a circle, a line, a symbol) is a STROKE sitting on
the surface — an outline whose interior still shows the underlying
surface (wall, skin, paper). Render its stated shape faithfully: a
drawn circle stays an open ring of brush-width, never filled into a
solid disc, unless the text explicitly says it is filled.
